I find myself very frustrated when I try to get fish out of my tank. Currently I'm trying to remove 6 aggressive tetras from a 20 gallon full of plants, other fish and shelter. After about 20 seconds with the net I realized this will not be easy... so i'm thinking there has to be a way to outsmart these little guys without freaking out the entire tank. any suggestions?

I find using 2 nets is so much easier, put one net behind the fish you are trying to catch and direct it towards the other net.

my guppies gave me a heck of a time when it came to moving the tank. try boxing them into a corner then work them up and net them from underneath that's what i did with my fish.

I always find using 2 nets works a treat, use one net to drive them into the other

i agree that the two nets method is easiest, however i never had a problem when i had to move guppies as they are so dumb they literally swim into the net.

I just removed all 6 of the fish I wanted to. It involved me removing nearly everything from the tank and putting it back in though... I'm concerned that this might have scared the rest of the fish beyond repair. I'm just hoping they can regroup and get over the shock now. I'd hate to see dead fish tomorrow morning.

By the way, I did use two nets and that helped considerably. thanks for the advice

While 2 nets helps loads I've still never been able to wiggle those nets around the plants and end up having to remove mostly everything. Indeed I did have to remove absolutely everything to catch my pygmy corys when I moved them.

Glad you got them caught. Leave the lights off on your other fish for the rest of the day as it'll help them feel a bit more secure.
