Well, tomorrow is the big day, and I feel like pacing back and forth in front of my tank. I would have had it last week, but the shop can only special order if they order over a hundred dollars worth of fish, and since they haven't been selling much lately, they couldn't order that much because they'd have no where to put it. Needless to say, someone was almost in tears (i.e. me) on friday when they told me. But now I'm getting it, really getting it! I feel like I need cigars or something.... Maybe throw a party? Hmmm..... :kana:

Tell more later, must do happy dance again....

Felt like that about my Sajicas!

Going out tommorow to get new bogwood and plants, trying to hide some fry... Just as excited as you are I think.

Cool fish the Firemouth, you'll have fun with him or her!

Let us know how you get on.

Well, I got him, after much fuss and worring about getting to the store before they closed and then I saw him....

OH MY GOD HE'S TINY!!!

I'm not kidding, he's about and inch long, tail included! I can't even put him in my thirty gallon yet incase the pictus eats him! I had to stick him in with my guppies, and a lot of the guppies are bigger than he is!! I tried to get him to eat, but he kept looking away whenever a pellet was dropping by his head. I'm sure he'll find them, he's already picking at the gravel, and I think he either kissed or bit one of my cories twice right in the head. The cory didn't act like it hurt, so I don't know for sure. Already shows some color along his throat, and there's a red line on his dorsal fin that runs right along the tip. I even caught him yawning.... gah,
I forgot how much I love cichlids

I'm already thinking how I can afford a bigger tank....

Oh I'm sick, sicksicksick

hehe congrats on the new fish

when oi got my second firemouth i put him in the 40gal. 10 mins later i came to see him and most of his tail was off  but now hes in the Q tank growing back quikly with most of it healed.

i dont think he is even an inch though -_-

My brother is coming up next week, and hopefully with his digital camera so I can take some pics. If I had one I'd probably already have eight up by now lol. Everytime I go past the tank I have to stop and peek in to see what he's doing....

YEA!!!!

yep firemouths are a cool fish... i have two in a 55g

its really cool if u have to males they like to flair out there gill plates at each other, very interesting to watch...sorta like convicts... but more color and less aggression...

I hope that's a mispell :p Good luck with your FM, they were always one of the fish that refused to live for me :p It's just my luck though, they are pretty hardy fish

This is nuts! I have these cichlid pellets that are about yeh big . And I have to chop them in half just so he can eat them! And then half the time the guppies get a hold of it and eat it instead! And I had to take the cories out and put them in the five, because little firemouth thinks it's okay to try and eat their eyes... This would be so much easier if he was bigger, then I could just stick him in the thirty without worrying about him getting eaten! But alas, he's a cool little pain in the butt.

Hopefully pics coming soon....
