Hi guys.
Because I want to become a more serious reefer and look after some more difficult corals and with the possibility of having another big reef tank I want to get an RO unit to save money and time.

Usually I just buy my water and away it goes into my tank but really I need to get one so I can make it at home.

I dont really know what type of unit I should get though because I have never had one.

Here are a few links to ebay of some possible units I will buy.

I would like to know whta you guys think I should get and why.

I dont kno 10% about RO units but i do on one and from i can make out is that RO-MAN is the best around, plus if you can get the ones with 3 *pods* in them i thin they are better.

i would go for the one with the *Click here to see what one* as i think that is the best.

Hope this helps Eigdoog :good:

Those units are good for sure. The third one however lacks a flush kit, and therefore I wouldn't buy it. Flush kits tremendously prolong membrane life and will save you tons of $$ in the long run. My one concern with the first two units is that they're only 50GPD. Remember, 50GPD is in ideal conditions and that's only like 2 gallons per hour. However because Ideal conditions (100PSIG line pressure, 75F water temperature) never exist in a real home (~30PSIG line pressure, <60F temp in the winter) you'll get less than half the rating of the RO unit, so 24GPD or 1GPH. Can be painfully slow if you need to make large volumes of water. I personally use a 100GPD unit and almost wish it were more...

Thanks ski.

I dont think that only having 1gph would be a problem because i will only be using the ro water for water changes and topping up so I think 1gph would be plenty of water.

I wont get the 3rd one becuase it dosnt have a flush kit because after some reading, I have found they do really extend the life of ro unit media.

I agree Eigood the RO-Man i probably the cheapest about with a replacment for pretty much ever filter, membrane going. The only other person good for value is the MWS Ltd (Moses Water Systems) But this is generaly a mobile type system but availble in three of four stage config. although from Germany and take while to come it good VFM with replacments readily available from the RO-Man althought MWS do sell a 3 year maintance pack which again is good VFM.

Flush kits are available from the RO-Man and generally easy to fit on to any system espcially the mobile type.

I would suggest going for a 50 gp/d+ membrane as you will find production will be slow unless you invest in water pump to up the water pressure on the membrane. I have a 50gp/d membrane and it produses approx. 30ltrs in 7hrs approx. 44 gp/h with good water pressure. you will find water production faster during the evening and night and slower during the day time due to people everyone drawing water off the system.
