German Bred Pink Ramshorn Snails

Hi, I was just wondering how often these breed? I have been reading up on snails and I don't want to be overrun with them

Ramshorns breed more slowly than pest pond snails. Population density seems to max out at a lower level than pond snails because ramshorns grow considerably larger. The good thing too is that everytime you see them you like seeing them because they are so decorative. At least that is the way I feel about them. To give you an idea of what this looks like, I can see about 256sq inches of glass in a tank that they have been in for 6 months, and I currently see 5 snails on the glass, varying in size from adolescent to baby. So you will see your snails, but they do not overtake the tank in my opinion.

Can you pm me with details of what to do to get a few of these? Thanks.

hi maz, i cant pm you. but if you send 5pounds to the paypal address ghdericks at gmail i can ship them out to you on monday. Be sure to include your postal address. Cheers, Gerard

I'm just in the process of planning my 96 litre tank. Am I right in thinking that sand substrate is bad for snails?

substrate is immaterial, except for MTS and assassin snails, which do prefer sand, but will be fine in anything. so in sum, you cant go wrong with sand.

Mine arrived today, little beauties! Also received a few extra ones :) Clever packaging too, never would have thought of using a film canister! Thanks :good:

Can I have a pack of these please, if you still have some.

+1 with teef.... I think I need to put aside my worries of an overgrowing population of snails and get a couple. No matter what I do I get algae :S Apart from starve my fish, I think I need snails. How much for 3? Will these be ok with shrimp?
