I've had a pair of German Blue Rams in my aquarium for 3 weeks now and I was wondering if I could receive any opinions regarding their state of health. I have attached two pictures below, one showing the male and the other showing the female.

I'm currently feeding them 'Nutrafin Max Spirulina Algae Fish Flakes' and tiny pellets that are similar to the Nutrafin flakes nutrition-wise but they contain much more protein (56% protein). The female GBR is reluctant to eat the manufactured foods and will only eat blood worm which I've started to dip in a vitamin supplement since it only contains moisture and a tiny amount of protein. The male GBR also prefers blood worm but will eat the fish flakes occasionally (he ignores the tiny pellets also).

I've tried to feed them small pieces of lettuce and peas but they are completely dis-interested.

Anyway, enough about their diet and fussy eating habits..

Sorry about the marks on the glass, I wouldn't be surprised if it is algae.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Not quite sure but I think you reversed the labeling of the pictures. They look like very healthy fish to me.

Thanks for your input.

No, I did intend to put the labels in those positions.

Look like healthy Rams to me keep them fed well and they'll be stunners :good:

The look a bit ragged but very healthy. Fins will grow back in no time and with a good diet they'll be a lovely pair. :)

Would you say the male (top picture) has ragged fins more so than the female?

Would he have had fin rot at some point while in someone elses care?

I don't think either have had fin rot. It looks more like the result of bullying/nipping by another fish. N I'd say they're about even, but that the females look worse.

Oh ok, well, I'll keep taking pictures and see if the fins improve over time.
