Hi,

I have noticed that "Mr. Ram" has been hovering over a piece of bogwood, head looking down, for about 2 days now. Having got the magnifying glass and torch, I can see 30 or so German Blue Ram (Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi) fry moving around in the crevices of the said wood. Some of them appear to be grounded in some way while a small amount are free swimming.

I decided to squeeze a bit of Interpret liquifry No 1 fry food about 5 cm above where the fry are located and this seems to have perked them up. A part from liquify I'm not sure what else I should feed to the fry. They appear to be about 2mm in length so this limits what they can eat in itself.

Any tips would be appreciated.

if you can get live baby brine shrimp that will be good for them along with the liquid ray till they are big enough to be fed crushed up flake, also if you can crush up flake with the head if a tiny screwdriver our needle till its tiny then that will work aswell.

Check your LFS for some frozen cyclops, this is brilliant stuff to feed baby fish on, just cut a corner of the block and defrost it in tank water then squirt it towards the fry.

Fry food: live baby brine shrimp, frozen Cyclops, liquid fry food, granulated fry food like sera vipan baby or infusoria on catappa leaves or driftwood

Thank you for the food suggestions everyone.

Unfortunately, overnight, one of the parent rams eat all of the fry. There are 2 female rams and 1 male ram in the tank and it would appear that just 3 days after the fry being eaten, the other "Mrs Ram" has deposited 30-40 eggs on a pebble and "Mr Ram" is fertilising them.

The pebble is about 7cm long so I will be able to place it in a fry tank, away from the parents and try feeding them the foods that have been suggested.

Does anybody know where I can acquire the device/machine that LFS' use to fill bags of water (with bought fish inside) with oxygen as I may try to sell some of the fry on or sell them to an actual LFS. They will obviously need a lot of oxygen while they are transported but I'm having trouble finding a device that will fill a bag of water with gaseous oxygen.

Many thanks,
Mark.

What like an O2 tank? its kind of expensive though. will your LFS accept fry or sub adults?

Yes, like a O2 cylinder which releases O2 when needed into a bag of water. My LFS have said that they will accept fish in exchange for a store credit.
