Hi all. I bought what i thought was a pair of Acara today. When i got them home, i noticed they were not the same as the pair i already have. Ive kept geophagus before and thought they looked similar. When i researched on the net i found out that they are called Threadfin Acara. Probably my own fault for not saying anything at the time i bought them. They're quite pretty little fish though. Has this happened to anybody else? Thanks.

Threadfin acara (Acaricthys heckelli) are absolutely gorgeous fish mate :) Wait 'til they're around the six inch mark and you'll see exactly what I mean :)

My Satanoperca daemon [used to be classified as Geophagus daemon] came in to the LFS I was working in, in a batch amongst Central/North American cichlids. I rescued them because they were getting chased waaay too much.. and haven't regretted it since :D

They're only about an inch or so long at the mo, so will have to wait to see them in their full beauty. My LFS owner was baffled cos he bought them as acara so i got the pair for only £3. Bargain eh? I'm really pleased with them. They're well suited to my tank and settled in well with all the tank mates. Got a 5x2x2 so plenty of room for them to grow.

Hopefully I'll post some pics of tank when i get my camera charged up. I'm so pleased with my set up at mo. I started off with a 2ft juwel and progressively got bigger and bigger. Due to the layout of my living room i can't go any bigger. Trying to set up a fish house in my shed so can start breeding but time and money are tight. I've got a lot of fish in 5ft but they all stay relatively small apart from severums.
