decided i like these 2 geophagus at work today.

it's either a S. Jurapari or G. surimensis I think or some over random one which got in with the batch.

they don't really look like my jurapari in another tank but there a bit bigger at aorund 2-3".

yeh when i was looking through the books it closest to the G. daemon but seeing as they weren't on any of the order sheets I went against.

although a good customer said there nice daemon fish this afternoon, although i thought he meant S. Jurapari as the common name :dunno:

whoa! nice geo, but the tiger shovel nose cat looks HUGE! are u sure the tiger shovelnose wont eat it?

My book describes S.daemon, and two others similar....but all w/ spots.
The stripe on yours didn't seem to fit, pulled up a couple sites....

I believe this is your ID (or maybe a little closer): S. pappaterra
Your fish also seems to have the blotches along the dorsal...

I think you may be onto something there, mine do look alot like the S. pappaterra comparing them in my books (baensch series).

the TSN is only about 11inch at the moment and I'm currently dicussing details on his new house!!

I withdraw my previous guess of S. daemon. the main thing I was looking at was the face...most of the pics I've seen of S. jurapari don't show the green lines on the face under the eyes but the pics of S. daemon do show them. I wasn't paying attention to the mid-lateral line and the 3 spots of S. daemon.

:)
