Was wondering what cichlids are generally good parents? As in will tolerate them for a while, wont eat their fry generally, etc
Thanks a lot guys in advance!

im no expert on this subject ( far from it ) but from what i can gather most cichlids are good parents and will care for the fry to the point that in the wild they would go of on their own to find grow/find teritories etc. some are more devoted than others but from what i have read good parentinmg seems to be the general rule of thumb with cichlids.

Spot on mark most cichlids care and protect fry it may take them a couple of attempts to be sucsessful at spawning if they are young and inexperienced but they soon get the hang of it.
But even with the parental care other tankmates may have a go at eating the fry. Lots of rocky hiding places helps ensure the survival of the fry.

Ok thanks, i have a 20 gallon spare tank just sitting around that i want to set up as a breeding tank:D

What type of cichlids are you referring to...they are not all good parents...

Well at the moment none, i was going to research for some exceptionally good parents.
