Theyre my sons fish really, pentazona barbs, glass catfish, ottos, kribs, corys, guppies, a couple of plecs and some loaches. They are what he likes right now and we all have to start somewhere.

I like alot of types too.
I like color, not the same fish over and over again, which is why I hacve never had 2 of the same fish. (Bettas dont count because they are different colored)
I wounder what I'd be like if I wasent into fish keeping.
Your hobby affects you, you know.
I'd prolly have spebnt my money opn alot of different things....

I'm different. I like species tanks, or community with only one or two species in. Nothing beats the beauty of a large school like you'd find in nature, obviously in the wild schools would be even bigger but we don't own a river  Hmm, theres a thought..... although if I didn't buy fish stuff, I'd buy useless junk or, well, nothing.

The way i see it, i want my fish to be as happy as they could be.
Im getting a 345gal tank in november, mainly for my 3 big plecs to finish growing out in and live in for the rest of their lives- im also planning on getting a small indoor pond for a large sailfin i hope to adopt soon who has been living in bad conditions at a friends house.
I like my tanks to be like little ecosystems with as many "useful" fish and other wtaer animals as posible- corys, khuli loachs and trumpet snails to clean the top layer of sand, khuli loachs also to keep control of fry populations, big plecs to eat algae, L075 plec and apple and giant ramshorn snails to dispose of fish that have died of old age or through or issues not related to desease, neon tetras and amoured shrimp to clean up excess fry food or other tiny bits of food in water etc- i want to also get some largish clown loachs to keep control on trumpet snail populations as well.
The livebearers i have like the guppys i have because i am trying to improve their imune systems. Other fish though like my male betta are simply for show although i did save him from bad conditions when i got him. Im hoping to rehome my pearl danio fry ASAP as they are now big enough for sale.
Hopefully at the end of this, i hope to have left one large main 345gal tank for fish, one indoor pond for sailfin plec(size not yet decided), one 30gal quarentine tank and one 30gal tank for an RTBS i hope to adopt and also my 5gal betta tank for my male betta.
I do try to appreiciate my fish as much as posible, i often find myself sitting down staring at my tanks for ages after i fed my fish or simply to view how nice the tanks look :) .

I have three tanks, but wouldn' wan't anymore, i no alot of fishkeepers hate maintaining there tanks, as i maintain mine twice a week, but when i finished maintaining them, and they look healthy and fairly happy, it makes it all the worth while, especially my fancy goldfish they love it when i done there tank, and while i'm doing it swimming round getting the food they have missed.

I have 9 tanks running, water change most every week, some every other week, takes acouple of hours to do this. For the hours of pleasure i get sitting watchin them, specially on feeding nights id say its more than worth the effort. If i couldnt afford to keep them in tip top condition then i wouldnt keep them all.

So what's the target age for you to have converted him into a catfish and oddball loving maniac with some beasty tanks? ;)

I like my tanks, but I agree, if I couldn't care for them, so that they are perfect, I wouldn't have them.

My profession is very stressful, and keeping fish has been a very relaxing hobby, and has kept me sane during my studies in IL. I enjoy devoting the time needed to care for them. I also like the learning process involved in researching new aquarium setups. I'm preferring the large biotope aquariums now, as I would love to see a school of 30 or so fish rather than the standard 5 of each.

The only tank I really work hard on is my planted 30gal....its kinda like my own little Science experiment. Water tests, adding stuff etc. Good news is that the fish don't mind.

The other tanks don't get neglected but all they need is a water change weekly and an algae scrape from time to time.

Then theres the baby fish....guppy, swordy and platy fry....who need to be fed all the time and tended to

I just started today my own "test" tank.
I'nm going to try new water chemicals, cloudy water cleaer - ect...
Its also going to be a planted 10G.
I'm going to fill its with cheap real plants, just because I like planted tanks.
Right now, on the tank I have 2 10-20 Filters running on it and a heater, and a blue background.
