I have 2 blue and one red striped dwarf gouramies. How to recognize the gender.

Are they colisia lalia or chuna? If they are lalia (usually called dwarf gourami, even though the name dwarf gourami applies to lots of species) then the female will be a basically silver colour while the male has blue/red stripes. Chuna females have a brown stripe, but males and femnales can lok very alike at times. Males anal fin may be pointier.

In this Link you will see a male (top) and a female (bottom) Look at the dorsal fin of the male. It is pointed on the end whereas the females dorsal is rounded. This is how to tell in most gouramis which is male and which is female. However, immature fish all have dorsals that look like females. HTH

I have a pair of neon blue dwarf gouramis - they are both pale blue, but the male has a red rim to his fins whereas the female is just blue all over.

Luckily my female is a dull grey, but the male has striking colours, think thats the best way to tell them apart. The guy at the lfs said you could also tell by the fins but I didn't want to take a chance as they were young and brightly coloured.
