Gay Platy

I think that I have a gay platy??

He continually chases the older platy around the tank. He won't leave him alone.

Any ideas why they are doing this ?

I really doubt your fish is "gay"... he's probably just trying to establish dominance over the oldest male in the tank. It's happening in my platy group too.

hahaa, i think y'all will think ryan and me are crazy BUT when i first started out with fishkeeping, i bought two pairs of guppies, then the two female died. And the bigger male kept doing that courtship dance to the other male and tried to mate him!!! OMG rite?! It really did happened! but i wouldn't call them gay, fishes brain's i guess are too small to even tell male from female, lol!!

Hi, I had a male guppy that went after another of my male guppies. The one he went after was perfectly fine until one day I witnessed the horrible act. (I'm assuming he may have hit the male hole-sorry but I don't know how else to describe it) I took that perverted offensive one out of the tank. After that, the violated guppy was never the same. The next day he was in a corner at the bottom of the tank, and then later in the day, died. I had a post about this asking if anyone else had experience this, but no one said they did. I'm very interested to know what happens to yours....

I once heard or read or maybe it was a pop up picture book given to me. No animals are gay. Only humans. Its not a natural thing. Sorry for the let down. No big gay al Gay Animal Shelter with disco.

Although another correction - It's not even a natural thing for humans. Gay isn't really an instinct for anything or anyone. It's just that some humans are just different somehow. I prefer not to explain as I might offend someone. Lets just stick to the point.

well on behalf of my comment, I didn't want to go there with the whole homosexual human being thing. I don't mind bashing books, bands, and what not. People seem pretty passionet that they are born gay. I honestly don't give a crap.
