Garbage forming on top of water....

Just wondering if anyone else experieces this problem. I have had my tank up for about 2 weeks. And recently there is a weird goop forming on the top of the water. It is kind of like food, but almost oily looking. The fish seem to be fine, but you never know.

Doesn't sound to good, I'm not sure what it is but I would guess it was perhaps linked with overfeeding. If you can try and siphon or if it is a solid net it off because I don't think it can be good.

I 've had an oily film ontop of the water once when I had my arms in there doing some maintenance - do'nt know what I was doing before???

But since then if I'm going near the fish tank I wash my hands and arms and rinse well

If not that then do you have a good fitting cover - could be airbourn contaminants?

I am not sure what it is. We will probably go get our water checked today. The fish seem more than happy. No problems there. I just don't want anything bad to happen to our fish.

If its still there try and remove it scoop it off like I said I don't think it can be good.
