I did a wc on my tank today and noticed brown algae growing on the sides of the tank. There's also been green algae growing on the plants - by/on the roots that are above the sand, so perhaps that's hard for the Otos to get to - and algae growing on the little flowerpots I have in there. Do Otos only like certain kinds of algae? Do they dislike brown algae? Or are mine perhaps filling their tummies on algae wafers instead of the algae?

Oh, I suppose I ought to state the size of the tank and the number of Otos in there, eh? It's a ten-gallon planted tank with sand substrate. Residents are two Otos, four Corys, and five Neon Tetras.

Thanks!

I believe they prefer brown algea.

I'm having the exact same problem in one of my 10g and I don't feed algea tabs to them at all.

Sorry I couldn't help, I hope someone else can. :/
