I am absolutely seething! Maybe i've gone OTT but i am furious at the unecessary cruelty!

Its some boring tv show with Ant and Dec and the first challange was for a load of women to shove their hands blindly into a box and guess what they were touching, for the trifle etc it was fine...

But it got to the snake, a boa i think that flinched at being grabbed and that was NOT the way to approach a snake!!

Then the poor Hedgehog, (African Pygmy Hedgehog) the woman whacked it hard enough to make it curl up and roll accross the box, if that isnt cruel i dont know what is!!

The a Tarantula, i didnt see what species it was, a Chile Rose i assume seeing as it didnt get too mad... but the woman was bashing it and poking it and even grabbed it at one point, these are a very delicate animal that could very easily have been hurt or even killed by an injury or alternatively, it could have tried to defend itself!!

I cant believe they are showing this rubbish and "entertainment". I sure as heck will be writing to complain and i hope other people will as well.

*goes away to calm down and stop trembling with anger*

time wasting trolls...

anyone with any interesting input?

well the hedgehog was not that hard hit if you so much as nudge a hedgehog they can roll into a ball then roll (mate has a pygmy)

and the snake if it bit her or rapped around her hand it wouldnt hurt to its conscience just her hand

and the spider would of bit or ran off if it was that bothered

id say you were over reacting abit

(also the chicken had more than likely spent its life sqaushed in a shed then been killed then not get eaten just binned so was a completly wasted life as it benifited nothing else) (yes i do eat chicken but ime not complaining right now)

so id say you were over reacting abit

Im no vegetarian or animal rights campaigner but i think that using animals in game shows and putting them in situations where they are obviously unhappy and are being used for fun and games and making someone money is ridiculous and cruel. Its more the ethics of it all and how unecessary it is thats made me so angry, i know the animals werent really hurt or they would show it but they were sure as heck unhappy!

And BTW the spider did run away but trapped in a box, it could hardly get far before she grabbed it again! And it is hardly likely to bite, it would more likely have flicked hairs which you wouldnt have been able to see from the distance the camera was.

And to get a boa or retic (didnt see which) like that to bite wouldnt be easy as they are usually fairly slow to anger and are more likely to shrink away (like it did) and move away from the offending person (which it couldnt do in a box) and huff and hiss and breath noisily to warn people off. And if it was stressed out enough to bite, it wouldnt harm the snake physically but it would stress it out.

If someone poked you to a point that you hit them, you wouldnt be the one that got hurt but you sure would be really hacked off and stressed out.

The hedgehog didnt just curl up (which they only do if threatened!!) it rolled accross the box and it didnt do that on its own...

Because anyone that is any good at looking after animals or even cares about animals can read body language (works with people too). An animal doesnt have to speak to get its feelings accross, its people that cant see that the stick animals in programmes like this.

Any kind of flinching or running away is part of the fight/flight reaction that an animal gets when threatened. Again, humans too react like this. If i felt threatened, i would stand my ground to an extent but general reaction would be to run like hell, i've learnt from experiance.

thats like saying that when you keep fish and clean your tank when they swim off then there threatened but they cant get away in a glass box there for you are hurting them

and its for your entertain ment to clean the gllass as it gives you better viewing thus being more entertained

True, but too much algae can cause water quality problems and block up filters so it is for their sake that the tank is cleaned.... you just do it carefully and gently, dont bash around.

And i dont watch rubbish like im a celebrity, thankfully have more of a life than to sit and watch that...

oh if only the hedgehog had rolled onto the tarantula and crushed it...vile creatures.
