Funny Smell

ello all

iv jus come home from work

and my reef tank has got / developed a funny smell its really stong like a bleach or chlorine smell.. iv been doing my normal water changes and all stats are ok apart from a small amout of amonia wich i can never seem to get down... i buy the water and have done for the last year from my local shop also the glass of the tank feals hot/warm and temp reading is normal,

the fish and coral seem ok

iv had to open the windows at the front and the door at the back of the house to blow some air in like i say its a strong smell has any1 come across this before??

any help would be great cheers

i found out the smell was my lighting system iv got t5 higlow lights and 1 of the plugs on the light had melted thro so got a complete new lighting set today free of charge as these come with a 2 yr garentee so if any1 had this lighting system keep an eye on the ends the smell was strong

i dont know why this happend the lights are not on 24hrs a day

like i say if u have this system keep an eye on it my was only a yr old

are you sure your lighting system is getting good ventilation, as my T5HO get VERY HOT i have a scald on my arm from mine.
 
ello again

the tank is in the corner of my front room next to the windows so theres air blowing through, i also made the lid and across the back have got vent points so its got air coming though like i say i think it was a problem when it was made..
