My betta has fungus. I treated with Wardley's Ick Away because it says it also treats fungus, and I already have it. That was Monday morning.

Now it's Wednesday, and my betta is laying on the bottom of the tank, and has been doing so since yesterday. He IS breathing, but nothing else. In fact, there's a cory that has landed on top of him, and then smacked him the face with his tail, and the betta has had no response.

He had medicine in the tank for 48 hours without the carbon in the filter. I put the filter back to normal in the hopes that the carbon would make the medicinal water safe neough for me to change without giving me health problems (the bottle says it's a carcinogen and teratogen, and frankly, I'm afraid to do a water change. I have a 3yr old and a 7 month old, and while I'm not pregnant now, I want to be assured that in the future, this won't come back to haunt me as a birth defect or aomething.

Any advice from anyone for the betta's and my sake?

Buy a pair of marigolds to change the water?

No sorry, rubber gloves. The ones you can use for cleaning/washing dishes

lol! Thanks, yeah, I think I'm going to have to do that. What will happen with the gravel siphon I use to change the water? Will it become too contaminated to use again? Or will rinsing it off with extremely hot (but not boiling) water, be sufficient?

I would just rinse it off with hot water straight after using it. I've just noticed that one of my tetras may have fin rot, oh no!. I think it would be easier and cheaper to get a cat  All the best with your tank!!

Ah, but then there's the kitty litter, cat food (more expensiive than fish food by far), veterinary bills, licensing fees.... and, they need to eat every day and need to be cared for when you go on vacation for any length of time.

Yes your right. Pets are a huge responsibility and I think that they are worth all the money that we spend on them. I love pussycats but I can't have one because the house we are renting has to be cat free, so thats why I opted for fish.
btw your little boy looks adorable
