How is it yucky? Taste, smell? It shouldn't have anything (other than chlorine or chloramine) that harms fish and requires carbon filtering.

Chlorine and chloramine should be removed prior toe WC by Prime or API Water Conditioner.
Oh haha I say yuck because it tastes like pool water practically. I grew up on pure well water and am sensitive to the chemicals in the city water. It leaves a crust on everything(ew). I know conditioners help remove that I just wasn't sure how much. Lately I've been buying purified water for my tanks than using water from the tap. It's easier for me to handle as well. I can't lift very much because of weak joints. Taking into consideration what everyone has been saying it seems I shouldn't need the carbon filtering. Thank you!

There's no harm in having carbon in a filter, especially if the water supply isn't the best. Replace the carbon each month and you're good to go. Just remove the carbon if you have to use chemicals to treat the fish for anything. Having said that, most fish health issues are related to poor water quality or can be fixed with salt or heat.

I've learned so much today, thank you!

Python is your friend, though with a small tank it will take awhile to pay off vs bottled water.

Another thing to watch is the mineral content of 'purified' water. If it is distilled then it will be by definition, very soft.
