i currently have what i've determined is fungus, in two separate tanks (thats what i get for not setting up a new quarantine tank yet and continuing to get new fish, my fault, i'm dealing). the one tank, all tetra species, almost all the fish have some. in the other tank, its only the new ram. (its contained on the fins only, not anywhere on their bodies, so thats why i determined it was fungus, that and the tetras fins are shredded from it)
the tetras i've been battling for two months. i've removed the carbon and tried melafix to start. i've also turned up the temp a bit. much of it has cleared up, but some is still hanging on. i haven't had any deaths since the initial two that alerted me to the fungus problem. the ram and fungus-free tank mates are also fine otherwise.
since melafix had little effect on the tetras i'm trying another product. what i want to hear from you all is what products have you used successfully to treat fungus and whatnot? the product i'm currently trying, as of last night, cna't recall the name but the active ingredient is malachite green. the tank has a lovely green glow right now  . we'll see how it works, but i'd love to know what products others have tried and found to work well.
thanks all!!!

I find interpet Anti fungus and finrot to be very good. I ave also treated just with aquarium salts which worked very well with the higher tempature. If I could I'd combine the meds and the salts for the best effect but I have catfish and loaches in all my tanks now.

I've used Jungle "Fungus Clear" tank buddies fizzy tablets, after an unsuccessful round of Melafix. It was an act of desperation, but it worked really quickly! I was pleased with the results, as I'd heard mixed opinions on the fizzy tablets.

Good luck! :)

I've used methylene blue for minor cases and post treatment preventative, salt and higher temp, the Jungle Fungus Clear tablets, and Aquarisol. I can't find the Wardley 'cure all' medicine anymore, but that worked well for me. I'm in the process of finding some malachite green from a fish breeder so I can buy it in bulk and not pay for the name,if you get what I'm sayin. ;) Melafix never worked well for me. It has in mild instances, but more severe cases the Jungle fungus tablets worked the best. Aquarisol worked best for me for betta fin rot. :)

wen starting out my goldie tank i had evry fungi under the book and i used poly gaurd and its worked for everything i had even dropsy. and u can use it on scalless fish.

I've use the Jungle brand tablets and it's a very exonomical approach, ie - cheap  , and it started working that very same day.......but I would redose a second time after 4 days is it?? Just to be on the safe side if going that route......I had to!!

Then my fungus came back a month later so I don't know if it actually worked or if my fish has an internal problem or is weak or what but I used the most expensive brand that time...Maracyn or somthing like that and treated it for 5 days straight.....it seems to be gone now!

Good Luck, boy do I know what you're going through but I was lucky in that it was only 1 fish
