i'm (as far as i'm concerned) reasonably new to fish keeping.. i have been in the game for about 2 years with some good and bad experiences between then and now..recently everything seems to be going quite well and in my community tank i have had my guppies breeding.. (incedently my other tank houses two 6 inch oscars that eat from my fingers).. i do not remove my fry from the community tank when there born because there is plenty of rock and plant cover in this 200 litre tank..simply the thing i'm curios about is that in my last lot of fry that have survived the natural process , i have two jet black (and i mean fully black) guppies . i have never seen this before and i'm not sure if these fish are unusual (hybrid) or its just i havn't seen them. Please if any one else has or knows of full black guppies tell me.

Do you have pictures ? :)

Nope I have never seen completely jet black guppies.

i have tried to take photo's but i have problems with focus and light refraction.. any tips and i'll give it a go..
there seems to be to much distance between the camera and the guppie..its hanging round the back of the tank

took some work but these are the best pics i could get...by the way if you know any tricks about taking photo's in a tank please tell me ...
just so you know iv'e just counted 3 at least of these pure black guppies, and also 2 or three others in different colours the same age....
i'm pretty sure there guppies because the only other fish in the tank are neons , wagtails and bristlenose catfish..

I've seen a few fully black Guppies, but they were at a breeders. Maybe they've started hitting stores. Also, how old are these fish? They may start to lighten as they age. :)

Oops, the photos didn't work. I've never seen full black guppies before. I hope you can get the pictures to load correctly.

Not that I've taken the best fish photos, but when I photograph my fish, I use a magnifying glass over the camera lens to help enlarge the fish as my digital camera's zoom feature needs a bit of help.

I look forward to seeing the pics and Congratulations on your fry! :)

Pics work just fine for me :) though they are a bit ginormous ;)
For those who can't see them, here they are a bit cropped too

Well let us know what they look like in a few weeks from now :)

Thanks, Bloo! I can see the photos you posted, but I still can't see the original photos. All I see is are boxes that say "oops my image for this link is no longer here. Hosted at Photobucket.com." Wonder what's up with that? :/ Anyway, how cool that the guppies are all black! I'd love to see pictures of them as they grow and develop! Hopefully they will stay all black! :D

Congrats again oscarwylde! :)

i have some half black guppy fry that are 2 months old and they look stunning.Fully black from tail to gills then greenish the rest,i also have some multi coloured ones : pink, green, red, purple and blue(on one fish btw) that are same age, everyone that sees them wants them :D im proud, bcos i found them hanging around the plants when i was cleaning i never intended to breed them, now theres loads and loads and both females are P.G again at mo.Will post some pics if they keep still long enough :sly:
