Hi Guys, can anyone tell me how to keep my hospital / fry tank mature without removing the filters and putting them in the main tank.

Thanks in advance

If I decide to do that for a short time, I just dose it with ammonia like I was doing a fishless cycle. It works fine for a week or two. Any longer than that and I move the filter, it just isn't that hard to do.

One thing I have done is, if using HOB filters, to buy filters that use the same size meduim and when setting up a fry/quarantine/hospital tank you can simply move a filter pad from the mature tank to the 'back-up' filter on the other tank.

Or buy a small HOB flter or sponge filter and leave it running all the time on your main tank to make sure it's mature and move it to the fry-tank when it comes time. I find a small sponge filter works best for this.

Thanks for the help guys, i've been looking for a small spoge filter for a while. can onl find the large twin sponge ones in our lfs. Maybe try and create one like in one of the threads.

:good:
