Ahh, I see. Bad daddy!

not a bad daddy, he was just haveing way to much fun with female to bother with the eggs :D i do wish i had left him in there thogh. the mother was great, picked up all the eggs and shot them into the nest, but iv heard they only do that for a while before they stop playing mommy.

they are both black marbless, but the mom has some blue marbled into her, and the father has like a rainbow effect goin for him, he's pet store mut really -_-

the spawn tank had a thermometer in it, was a constant 85 the whole time, wasn't temp, and i guess your right, they didn't die right away so maybe wasn't teh water. i have heard that the darker the coloring the harder it is to keep the fry alive, but for them all to die like this in such a short time, there had to be somthing else going wrong :( i do have some micro predators in my other tanks, they make great guppy fry chow and i encourage them to culture, so it is a possibility that some may have made their way in, that somthing i didn't think of before i started, but im not seing anything left alive in the tank.

the survivers are doing pretty well accually, i put them in a 6 ounce betta cup with about 3 inches of water. i saved probably around 12 this morning and i see atleast 7 that i know are looking liek they will be free swimming tomarrow. if i can get a few to survive i will be content, i would really liek to persue this dt gene since i did all that damn research. but if not, ill give it a week and mother and father will be redy to give it another go, the male has built this 4inx5in nest that i dont think iv ever seen him build before, i guess he's been practiceing

thanxs all you guys for the help, i really appritiate it.

I'm so glad you managed to save a few  Their odds are probably better now, too, since you can devote all your attention to them. As soon as you have pictures I can't wait to see the beebees

I'm glad to hear that the remaining kids are doing well. 85's kinda warm, is that with or without a heater?

that was with a heater, but i can have it at between 75-80 without so i probably shouldn't have used it.

i have great news, i found quite a few more in teh spawn tank this morning and i added them to the life boat :D i took count and i have around 30 that move, cant really tell how they r doing as they are so small but for somthing that size i suppose they appear ok. they have just about lost their eggs sacks and have doubled in size it seems. they are not yet free swimming, but i added a little bbs just to see if i could get a little action out of em. the bbs were more annoying than they were delisious, i hadn't noticed the fry feeding on them yet. shouldn't be long before i see them swimming around thogh, plus the bbs will be ok in fresh water for about 24 hours before they die, so they will be there and redy to eat.

i would take you guys some pictures but with teh cam i have i can barly get goos shots of my adult fish -_- sry

That's awesome, see it was probably some natural die off.
The lifeboat

ehh, im checking them today and they are looking pretty slow, they haven't touched their shrimp and they arnt free swimming, im afraid they may starve soon, this is day 3 :/

You can only wait and see. I'm experiencing the same thing with my DT spawn, the other spawn is swimming around and eating while the DT's, who hatched the same day, are still clinging to the sides and falling on occasion.

Good luck, GD.

well their all toast, dont see any moveing at all :/

im gunna try again iwth the same pair, but this time im gunna leave the father in and see what a differance he will make, im pretty sure he'll be a help. yeevia has had alot of good luck with her spawns, and she leave the father in a few days longer that the recommended time period, so maybe that'll make the differance -_-thanks fro your help wuv.
