Oh I am sooooooooo.......ooooooooooo excited
 :D   :D :D :D  :D  :D :flex: :D
I've got 2 fry so far.
I was looking at the computer (my tanks next to it) and saw something small move.
It's FRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I'm catching them when I see them.
I thought I'd seen the mummy fishies picking at the java moss but I couldn't see any fry. Now I know it wasn't just algae

They're about 6 or 7mm long. They're a very silvery/blue colour.
My two female platties are still really fat. SO would it be my dalmation molly fry. If so. At this size, how old would they be. My molly never looked excessively fat, and doesn't look much different now. Would she be a 1st timer?

I am very very very....................very happy grandmama now
:D :D :D :D

Thanks for the congrats!!

does anyone know, at 2mm wide and 6mm long. Are my fry still small enough to be eaten by the platties and molly?

I've put them in a little jar, floating, but if they're big enough, I'd rather let them swim around the tank. I don't wanna risk them being eaten tho.
Cheers :D

Congradulations!!!!

I have 23 fry and more coming (guppies)
They are so cute ...
I love them to death!!!

mine are 3 days old and all are well

Good luck with your babies!!!!!

Yes. At thst size they can be eatn by the adults...

What you need to do is get a breeding net. This attaches to the side of your tank and protects the fry from the adults (its like a plastic frame covered with a fine mesh)...putting them in here is the only way yo guarantee their survival...

OH...and before I forget....CONGRATIULATIONS

Congrats!!!!

I have just had Platty fry and know how excited you are as I am still finding more fry every day. I have a breeding trap and have only caught 3 fry and got them in the trap.
Mine were born on Friday and are about 7mm and I did see my Male platty eat one so I would say If you can catch them put them in some sought of trap/net.
The Adult fish think they are food that's the problem.

Good luck

George :kana:

I've made my own little breeder trap/fry trap.
There was a post in the DIY section saying to use a 4 L container and cut slits in and hang it on the side of the tank.

I got a glad (in NZ) container (mini lunch box/freezer container) and Poked holes in all the walls and floor (about same size as fry) and put 2 picture hooks through the top to hang on the side of the tank.

It's not big enough to put mum in too, but it's perfect for the little fry. For a while anyway.

I won't be surprised if I've got plattie fry tomorrow.
2 of the fatter females are laying on the floor under the java moss.
Will get up bright and early.
Still only 2 molly fry tho (if that's what they are)
