Fry breathing organ

It's been years since I've done any work with these guys. The fry are 13 days old now and stuffing themselves with food. I noticed this morning that several are starting to make trips to the surface. Is it possible that they are starting this early? I expected it at the end of the third week. They seem to be coming along well in line with the size charts and of course there are runts.

My oldest batch is a month old as of yesterday, and the largest ones started making their darting trips up to the surface at about 2 1/2 weeks old. Maybe yours are just developing a little faster?

I guess they must be. I just didn't expect it so darn soon as I wanted to move them to a larger tank. Most of them are right on with the size chart. There are some runts thou and even some of them are running up.

I've seen one tiny bully attempt so far. Some are really pretty shades of gold and some are stark white. It will be interesting to see how these all turn out.

In the meantime, I need to figure out how to move them!!
