Hi all,

Ive just purchased some blister packs of Daphnia, Blood Worm, Tubifex and Brine Shrimp. This is mainly for the ADF but because they are in a community tank until I purchase a small tank for them, the rest are eating this too. As ADF require this kind of food every other day, is it ok for my fish to be eating this every other day or is it harmful? I tend not to feed anything else these days due to the frogs. The day the frogs dont feed, the fish arent given food neither.

It wont hurt them to have some every other day, in small amounts, althought regular flake/pellet feedings are better for them with the frozen foods more of a treat.

Can you use a dropper of some kind to get the food to the ADFs easier rather than putting it into the tank directly so all the fish get it?

Ive tried using a syringe, a chicken baster and freeze dried tubifex stuck to the glass but the ADF are thick and just let it pass them by. In the end, the other fish eat it and the frogs lunge for their tails thinking its food. The other real luck I have had is dropping the frozen food in and letting it thaw in the tank. While it is thawing, the ADF can smell it and are ready and waiting for it by the time it drops down to them. Lets just say, on Friday when they were last fed, they werent the only ones with bloated stomachs so it worried me a little.

If a whole block is too much (and with bloated tummies it sounds like it is), cut the block in half before putting it in the tank, easier said than done I know but you dont want them to eat too much.

If they are getting bloated, put some cooked shelled peas in, the ADF's might not find them but the fish will.

I would give a small helping of flake each day for the fish, then small amounts of frozen for the ADF's every other day.

Ill give that a go. Im just worried that the small amounts of frozen will just be eaten by the other fish before the ADF get the chance. Im going to have to rush this next tank through.

Go to a hobbycraft or similar place and get some plastic canvas comes in a range of sizes and some folder file dividers, you can put the canvas thru the dividers to hold it in place and voila you have a divided tank, check out the betta section as this is what betta keepers use to divide tanks, its cheap and very easy to do :good:
