So, thanks to a thread started by someone else, I have gotten a lot of great ideas on how to enhance the appearance of my 40g Hexagon community tank (thank your Minnnt and This Old Spouse) So this morning, I bought some plants and rock (pictures when my camera charges). So I thought I would make a journal on my progress in re-scaping my tank. Any comments, critiques, suggestions are most definately welcome :)

I personally love it. Far better compared to what it was like before (even before your first pic)

You will learn what needs tweaking the more you look at it.

I do have 2 suggestions for you though... no flash on your camera, just tank lights, and... the best one... you're gonna love this... ready... CLEAN YOUR GLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I already cleaned the glass. The water spots were from the water I flung around while trying to do this lol

Here you go Minnnt. No flash, clean glass lol.

And thank you again for all the advice. I am really diggin the natural look I got from this. I want to add another piece of wood, but I cannot figure out how to suspend it from the top. I am also going to find some taller plants for the back of the tank.

Did you? Blimey... You need some better glass cleaner!! :D

And the picture looks much better with no flash.

Is your tank braced at all? If so then you could tie more wood to that.

Hmm... Does it have a rim? If so then you could tie it around (or glue it) some polystyrene and float it above so you can't see it.

It does had a rim. I might have to try that. Because its a tall tank, I just feel like the top is so empty. I think a nice piece of wood branching from the top would complete the look.

I did go down the the lake this morning as well. I couldn't find any rocks (i bought the ones i used) but if you ever need driftwood....I can get you some really nice pieces. There was TONS of it!! I know where I am getting my piece.

Postage isn't as bad as your would think.Good think about driftwood is you don't have to worry about it dying :p

What kind of floating plants?
