Hey all, Basically ive not got terrapins in my 4 foot upstairs. I have 4 of them, I have a UV bulb in the starter unit, lots of land acess and food. Basically I just want general info on them and any person experience or tips.

I believe I have two variations, one with yellow belly and the other with a map.

Any pictures, I'd love a terapin but wouldn't know where to start :p

I wish someone would rescue him I am surprised he has lasted for the 5 years he has been their!

The turtle shown above is a red-eared slider. I have 2 of these...nice turtles. They are native to the southern US but have naturalized themselves here in Ohio where it gets very cold.

Yellow Bellied and Map turtles are South American Males get to about 5", females get to about 8" (i have 5 yellow bellied at work for sale atm)

with four in a four foot tank i hope you have a lot of filtration on the tank, these are seriously messy.
Reptomin is a good staple food from tetra, this contains all of the vitamins and calcium which they need for their shells to grow properly.
Reptomin should be supplemented daily with aquatic plants and lettuce leaves, and occasional with meaty foods such as bloodworm, daphnia, and prawns

They are very strong swimmers/divers and appreciate open water, they also spend much time on dry land basking in superman like positions

if you want to handle them start when they are young but always keep it to a minimum,

Phone Jacker on channel 4, it's hilarious! I recommend you watch it!

How the heck has this one managed to survive in the UK? It's one thing managing in the Southern states of the US but it is more like the Northern states over here. I assume these turtles don't have the ability to hibernate and my outdoor gauge has been showing below freezing for a few nights this winter! Obviously a tough one!

Read my post again. lol I live in Ohio (a northern state) and they have been found to live, hibernate, and breed here.

Ok guys thanks for all the interest im really exited and am going to a high rated shop on wednesday. I think I have found what breeds I have which are 1 Yellowbelly Slider and 3 Cooters. I also think I am getting another 4. I plan to build a pond when they get too big for a tank.
