one of my friends and her roomate just bought a 29 gallon tank...they have 2 20 gallons and 2 10 gallons but currently just the 2 20s and the 29 are running. i told her to take the filter media out of one of the 20 gallons (has nothing in it) and put it in the 29...its half planted right now with anubia, java fern, temple plants, and some big fluffy spreading background plant, not java moss though. theyve never done a natural looking tank before so they are letting me plan it for them.

i have many aquariums and sort of know what im doing...but i cant figure out a good stocking for her 29 gallon.

one of my favorite tanks is my 20 gallon planted community and want to give her something like it. my tank has 13 white clouds, 3 female bettas, 2 spotted corys and 1 pygmy cory, 1 khulie loach, and a clown pleco. how many white clouds (or neons) could we school together? or maybe get rid of them altogether? the female bettas are a must i think because theyre colors are absoultely stunning....and how many corys?? and IMO the khuli loach is unessecary for their tank because i never see mine and im sure theres something better. for plecos theyll pry end up with BN...is just 1 enough? or shall they get 2? theyd be about 1.5 inches when they come home from the store.

is there room for much more? im sure there is...and ill also mention we want to stock it a tad on the heavy side so everyone needs to get along well!

her tank has two 30 gallon filters on it

If the 20 gallon had no fish in, its likely that the bacteria would have died off. So you probably wont be able to instantly add fish as there would be no bacteria alive to convert the waste.

Have you asked your friend what sort of fish they would like/tank theme? If so what did they say.

the media they added should be good...as they just put the fish that was in it in the other tank. as for theme...like i said they wanted to try a natural look...driftwood, live plants, etc.

i G@@gled cabomba and it looks a lot like it. its not as thick and isnt planted into the ground...its goes out in all directions..close though

anyone else have ideas about the topic?? how many corys can be housed in a 29?

Heavier than cabomba and not planted sounds more like anacharis to me. It can be planted but I have never really seen it root well. When it looks planted there is usually just part of the stem under the surface of the substrate.
