Friends For A Betta In A 10g.

I can't think of any snail eaters that fits in a 10g so I guess they'll have to go to the toilet. But as long as you don't have lots of leftovers in your gravel your snail population should remain down.

As I do more research on Trumpet snails, I've learned that practically no stores sell them and usually you have to buy a live plant in order to "accidentally" get them. I don't really want to have to do that... If PetCo and PetsSmart lack Trumpets, what other types of snails would be a good addition that help clean the tank and etc? Thank you again, times a million.

Hopefully, I'll be going to both of those places tomorrow to look around.

Generally, if you have a good look around the tanks at a shop, there'll be a couple crawling around somewhere, that I'm suer they'll give you for free if you say 'they're for my puffer' or something. You only need a couple to get a nice population.

Some people have suggested a few things for companions...

I bought 4 kuhlis today, 3 of which were killed (stress and nipping, oddly enough) but one stands, and how crazy is this, my betta is practically protecting it. He swims over him and flares his gills at the side and won't leave his side when I look into the tank...? WEIRD.

Some have suggested (in addition to snails),

Cories (Bronze, Pygmy, and Panda)
Platies
Black Molly

I've done some research on all, and the best fit sounds like a trio of Platies. Why? well, my Betta obviously hates things smaller than him, so I thought maybe if I acquire 3 platies, which are larger than others I've had, he'd mind his P's and Q's, suggestions? Advice?

I would suggest ottos over snails for algae and cories over snails, snails can evolve to become a pest which is rather annoying.

There have been instances where ottos have just randomly been KO'd but that doesnt necessarily mean they are guaranteed to die. They are amazing algae eaters, very cute, stay small and dont ahrm plants.

Corys you will love, theyre so lively all the time and bettas wont bother them at all as the betta tends to stay at the top of the tank whilst corys are bottom dweller. If you get cories u can try pigmy corys as they tend to stay smaller than bronze, peppered etc.

Now that you have a kuhli loach you may wanna get that some friends instead tho?
