Friendly Fish Syndrome: where fish love you like you're chocolate.

Well, it seems that way anyway :X I am having those problems with my 3 rosy barbs, 2 tiger barbs, 4 angelfish, and some platies (all in the same aquarium). IT'S GETTING ANNOYING! :grr: I buy them nice, expensive live plants that any fish would die for to swim around, and here they all are; hanging out at the top corner of the tank wanting food (I feed them enough, lol!).

I have tried taking someone else's advice about moving things around in the aquarium (to make them a bit jumpy), but it doesn't work  I have tried ignoring them, dipping my net and swishing it around, "chasing" them, I have even tapped on the glass a few times, thinking it would bother them, but none of it seem to work!

Can anyone help me out? :-(

possibly try fasting them for a few days. They wont die and they might get less interested after a while.

Feed them after a few days, then feed them less regularly after that (once every 2 days?).

Conditioning fish DOES work...

fasting my fish worked for me. now they only come up to bug me for food when i open the lid on the hood.

noticing what you have in your tank... you might want to be careful. tiger barbs can get pretty nippy, and your angelfish will probably end up as a prime target. just a little heads up.....

Yup, fasting sounds like a good idea.

The warning above is also right. You might want to consider moving the barbs (esp. the tigers) and/or adding more of them to disperse the nipping amongst ther own species.

Angels have adapted to surroundings with tall plants, so they shoud like the setup. Just give them a little less reason to like you and they should be fine. ;)

Thank you so much! I am going to fast them and see what happens!

Thanks for the warning!! I am keeping a close eye on them and will move them if they get too agressive (but they seem to be doing alright now)...

Thanks so much!

lol my fish r just the opposite they wait at the bottom for me to bring them there food, its pretty funny

I conditioned my fish so that when I turn the tank light on in the morning, they know it's time to eat. As soon as I turn on the light, they some to the top and I feed them and then they do their own thing for the rest of the day because they know that's it for the day.
