Should i get rid of my shrimp? It's really taking the biscuit now. The tetras look all healthy aswell!

Here's a pic

Could someone ID him? Could it be because i'm not feeding him properly? (he scavenges and eats pellets at the moment along with the odd small fish :()

Tank size: 15 gallon. 8X neon tetra (was 9), guppy, 3 panda cories, shrimp, 2 molly

Again looks like one of the long armed variety. Who love tetras!.. Where did you buy him, how big was he, how long you had him, and how big is he now? They grow very quickly. They like tetras as they tend to hang out lower down the tank in amongst weed etc. Easy to sneak up on when the lights are out!.
Read the I have Evil Shrimp thread.. if you havnt already.. Mine looked just like that when I bought them and were about 4cms long. 4 months later they are over 20cm

right. He's going back to the LFS then, i'd noticed myself that its grown quite a bit too

Please tell them when you return him, what he actually is, as these are being sold all over the UK at moment as just fresh water shrimp, no mention that thay can get as big as 15" and some even larger

About a week ago at the lfs i saw these too, they were only about 1" long and were completely colourless(but completely different from ghost shrimp) sold as "freshwater shrimp" . They were like £2 each as as opposed to £3.70 for a "Yamato shrimp" so i can see why people would get them. I really want some, but i'm not allowed another tank, and if i was my first priority would either be a triops setup or an attempt at a planted tank, but maybe one day  .

LONG ARM VARIETY??? of what??? grow to 15" where?? though i stand to be corrected the only shrimp that reaches that size is the African Vampire shrimp!!!!!! and trust me it aint one of them.

to be honest it looks like an amano shrimp, lol and has been identified as such on another almost identical thread. by the same poster.

i would like to learn what the result of returning the critters to the LFS was. lol

just seen these last week in Coventry.

Here they are only 70p each. They are Huge well over 2" and have dark brown stripes, I thought they were tiger shrimp.

Check out the above thread. These have been identified and can get over 1' long. Turns out they were bred for the food trade!! Thats why they grow so big and so quickly. If you look at the I have Evil shrimp thread you will find links to pictures of these shrimp at full size. the reason why the shrimp above has small claws and little colour is its a yougnster. Mine looked just like that when I bought them. Clear body, normal sized claws and about 3cms long.

This pic shows them at different ages.. notice the transparent yougster!
