Well al pervious posts where correct the the raf. catfish formally known as pleco has been appogieied for by the owner of the petstore. I was just wondering they have a rather tiny pleco advertised as a freshwater pleco (no scientific name). They look very dark (almost black) and appear to be a fully solid color. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Currently their size appears to be .5"

I dont know but i would think that they are just common pleco, and will get really big no matter what tank they are in

I've had a couple of common plecos in the past and they really don't look like any pleco I've seen resently. They have about 7 in a 15 gal at the fish store. Certainly not in the sailfin variety. The dorsal was very flat and they didn't seem to use it at when they were swimming about in the tank.

I was going to say "Freshwater Pleco" is redundant as they're all freshwater but dwarfs beat me to it. This LFS you're going to doesn't sound very reputable or intelligent.

Let me put it this way. I basically have pet land (who staff are entirely incompetent), Wal-Mart (which gave me a Cory when I asked for a pleco) and the other pet stores which feed your animals well but don't know squat about their livestock (warm-blooded or otherwise). The place I'm going to is about a 30mins car ride and has been the only store in my city where there were No fish (unlike the min. in other stores of at least 10). And they are supposedly specialize in fish. The owner, whom which I talked to about the raphy cat fish incident, seems to know his stuff pretty well. His help on the other hand.... not so much, but at least she tries and calls her boss on her cell (I got to give her that). I'm in Canada, and if you know the area well enough Winnipeg, and honestly I find it so frustrating. I've gone to the public library to research my fish numerous times but all the books are checked out my some eight year old doing a mini u (mini university a summer day camp) project on fish (I ran into her and her mother shopping where I work and yes they have at least 50 books at home). I ask for patients please. I really am trying my best and I care for all of my pets a great deal. I have taken many suggestions posted on the forums to heart (including working many back to back shifts saving up money to have purchased my new leaky 33 gal tank). Since I can't trust hardly a word of what is told to me locally I have to depend on you and the internet for my information.

Next time I head into the store I'll bring along my digital camera as I don't belive it's a common pleco it looks like somthing else entirely.
