i havent seen any but i dare say someone will be breeding them somewhere

Ok so do you think i could have about 3 in the 27g?
dont know really i would try and do a load of research first as i read they should be kept in large groups but then in the same article i read you can keep them in tanks as small as 15us gallons i just cant see how you could keep a large group of a fish 14cm long in a tank so small 27g is not a bad sized tank i think your more likely to have trouble getting hold of some unless you already know somewhere

No, so the live food doesn't get sucked up. This is why either air-powered sponge, box or undergravel filtration is essential.
What kind of tank mates???
None. The only things I'd imagine would work would be very gobies, since they're very slow feeders too. Small Ancistrus catfish might be okay as well. But that's it. Forget about barbs, tetras, cichlids, Corydoras, etc.

These are famously difficult fish to maintain. Almost no-one succeeds without [a] keeping them on their own and feeding live foods daily. Read up on the maintenance of wild-caught seahorses and you'll have some idea of the scope of the problem.

One of the most serious issues is that retailers haven't a clue what species they are selling, and at least some species are brackish, not freshwater, fish so have a limited lifespan in a freshwater aquarium. I'd maintain all specimens in very slightly brackish conditions (around SG 1.003) until I could positively identify them one way or another. That low salinity won't harm freshwater species, but will ensure the health of brackish water species.

Cheers, Neale

k i was going to try to get a trio of african pipefish.but i know they are rare so im gonna check out brackish .

So for the filter.i didnt really got what you said.

So shoiuld i put a sponge on the filter so the food doesnt get sucked up quick?

And i dont know if i could feed them all day because ill be at school till about 8 till 3.

What should i do about that?

Don't even think about getting these fish unless you're prepared to do the work they need. They are very difficult to maintain. Please, do read about wild-caught seahorses.

where can you get them in the uk anyway i have never seen any

Hi

I have kept and sold pipefish before, all brackish. If you do lots of research and have time to feed at least 3-4 times a day then fine, you might manage....

They are very difficult to feed, it took me a very long time to get them to eat frozen foods rather than live and i could do it because i or someone else was at the shop all day every day, so they got fed regularly.

I would wait and get more experiance before embarking on such a project! they are gorgeous fish!! A future project for you i think, perhaps a little more experiance with other hard to keep species (though not too hard!) how about other brackish fish such as puffers or gobies etc?
