Freshwater Clam ok in cichlid tank?

LFS has in freshwater clams and some sort of muscles said they should be ok in cichlid tank but he has never seen them nor tried it what do you think? Also how abought snails?

any advise or experiances would be much appreciated.

well i placer the clam in tank last night cichlids picked at the shell a little them left it alone. woke up this morning and clam had started sifting thrue substrate and fish are not messing with it at all so i think i will get a half dozen more they look preaty good in the tank.

Yeah, I like the sound of that and one of the few things that even cichlids can't eat (hopefully )

OK i added 6 more clams and put them all in the same area and there moving all over the tank

next i,ll put in muscles and see how that goes and let you know

I like the Idea they aren't too expensive and i wondered myself, do they need to be fed

from what i hear they feed off the water (filter feeders) i havent been feeding them so well see

Yeah I knew filter feeders but don't quite knbow what the hell that means
