Do they have near the nutriitional value of frozen bloodworms? I ask because they're a lot cheaper and will be less hassle to store. Will my fish enjoy them as much? What about other freeze dried foods? I'd like to add some variety to my fish's diets besides flakes and betta bits.

I've noticed that fish tend to live frozen foods more than dried. Some of my fish don't even touch my tubifex worms.

From what I've read here and in books, the nutritional value goes down considerably. And dried foods can't spark breeding like live or frozen food.

i didnt even know u could feed fish worms

do all tropical fish eat them, what do they benifit from them?

My fish like them but don't go crazy for them. They do go crazy when I give them live bloodworms though. I've never seen such fat bellied fish!

 not making fun of you, but it's just funny because that is the first food I thought of when I bought my fish...it's taught to us from childhood!

Anywho, i bought freeze dried bloodworms for my fish (listed in my sig), and they eat them up! I think fish may be like cats. . . in that once you feed them the good stuff, they won't go back to second best. I made the mistake of feeding my cats the expensive wet food, and now they turn their nose up at the cheap stuff (damn greedy cats). Not that this is a proven fact for fish, but it works in my head!! I would go ahead and buy the freeze dried stuff. It's not terribly expensive, and if it works, it's a good change from the flakes. If it doesn't work....mix it into your ex's food one night. (JOKING....I don't wanna get sued for making that statement). I feed the worms to my fish every other feeding. It keeps the variety. Wouldn't you get tired of eating baked chicken every night? wouldn't you want a steak every now and then? I think the fish would feel the same way.

any statements made in this posting by me are not proven facts, but my own personal opinion

Good Luck!!
P.S. - I had a black tetra, and he loved those dern worms!! he would jump up and splash water everywhere trying to eat them. Sadly, he died (pics in an earlier post by me). I'm sure at least your tetras will like them!!

My red-eye tetras are crazy about freeze-dried bloodworms; they like tubifex and freeze-dried daphnia too, but not nearly as much as bloodworms. My betta eats like he's never been fed before when I give him FD bloodworms - the hog! - in fact he'll hardly eat anything else.

pendragon!

My fish don't eat freeze dried bloodworm but will eat tubifex, nothing like when they eat frozen bloodworm though!!

Also, I think that freeze dried ones are more expensive. I pay £3 for frozen and freeze dried is more and looks to have less. -_-

Freeze dry fish foods make me sneeze so I only use frozen. My fishies are now spoilt - they turn their noses up at flakes and pellets and prefer to go without food until they get what they want :)

frozen over freeze dried anyday. ;) how hard is it to keep frozen anyways? just stick it in your freezer right? :dunno:

I just thought I'd through this in, but have you read the back of the canisters on the freezed dried bloodworms???It gives a warning about an allergic reaction that might affect some and ferquent use can make the unallergic, allergic to this food.... :-(

Hey... nutritionally speaking, frozen is much better than freeze dried any day of the week! My fish turn their noses up at the freeze dried stuff, but luckily they attack the frozen stuff...bloodworms, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and daphnia. They know what's good for them! I also mix in some vegie based meals for roughage. My fish eat better than I do!!

No freeze dried, only frozen. Freeze dried is like cardboard and has no nutritional value, notice that they call them 'treats'

LoneWolf~ I've seen that ! I've heard of people having allergic reactions, supposedly can't breathe and such just being near one :S

Is there any reason to buy them what so ever? I agree that they will probably get tired of eating flakes. I just don't want to have to run to petco everytime I want frozen fish foods. Also the frozen foods were about 6 bucks a pack although I'm not sure about the exact weight it didn't look like much. The freeze dried blood worms were about the same price as my fish flakes in a slightly smaller container.

I feed mine once a week frozen food a cube of a tropical multi pack and some flake another night tubifex, and spirunlina flake, the 3rd night FD Bloodworms and a color flake.
My corys i am conditioning to breed get the equivilent to steak everynight :D they get frozen something everynight. Plus freeze dried and flakes.
