Hi all

Bit of a long story: my husband's ex (told you it's a long story) took on a tank of tropical fish from an old chap who was going into a home. When they split up, she left them behind! He's looked after them ever since, but most have now passed away from what we presume is old age - they just went gradually. So now, we've got this very shy catfish who's the only one left. We're shortly to move from Kent to Manchester, and it doesn't seem fair to move him/her all that way on his/her own - so would someone like to adopt him/her?

Livestock: Shy Orange fish (sorry, no idea about breed) ID'd below as Chinese Algae eater
Age and condition: old (at least 4 years) but healthy
Quantity for sale: 1
Reason for Sale: Moving house and think he might like some company.
Delivery or Collection: Collection please, although we might be able to deliver
Sales price: Free!
Postage & Packaging: N/A
Location: Tonbridge area, Kent

Hi
I work in Tonbridge (though after today I am on holiday for a week but even then I am only in Maidstone). I would be happy to take your catfish as long as I know it would be compatible with my fish so I would need to identify it. Happy to come and have a look at him top see if he would be suitable? How big is it?

Sorry for the slow reply, let's see if this link works...

Ah yes! There he is. Hanging out on the wall, which is what he likes doing when he's not hiding in the weed. I guess he's about 8-10 cm long. GrubbyGirl, if you'd like to come and have a look, you're more than welcome - although I don't know what the etiquette is now, shall I PM you my contact details?

that is not a catfish, it is a chinese algae eater gyrinocheilus aymonieri.
thanks but no thanks.

Hmms. Doing a little googling suggests he might not be friendly to other fish if this is his breed :( oh, boo. Well, anyone's still welcome to him, but I'd understand if not. He's very shy generally, and we never saw him harass any of the other fishes while they were still alive. And they did all die of natural causes!

he wont harrass till he is older the best bet is to just take him to an LFS
