Free tank

I believe there is a pinned topic as to breeding.

:/ I still wouldn't put any munber of females in with a male splendin...but that's your choice not mine.

Hope all goes well in the tank.

sorry I read the top bit wrong i need to get me glasses fixed or stop dreaming..... I'm sure i read 30 gallon then realized it said liter, if you think its 6 gallons why don't you partition it and keep the male and female apart, but make sure the is at least 4 inches of divider above the water or she or he may jump and end up with unexpected fry or dead fish............ :D

Having just read a thread which says Bettas don't like tall tanks, me thinks this may be the wrong tank for a betta now :( It's 15 inches high, 6 inches to each hex width.
Too high?

Maybe put in some tall plants in there so the betta could rest near the top of the tank. I don't think it's too hish though. I have females ion my 20 gallon which is 16 inches high and they're all fine. I know males have a harder time though because of the fins.

As long as he has something to rest one that is near the surface i'd say he'd be fine.

ideal then if you partition.......fill to say 8 inches 4 inches above that for the divider to stop them jumping.......

Oh thanks guys!! I can get bettas after all
I'm coming round to the idea of a little frog as a tankmate (just have to get over my live bloodworm phobia) they had some in the lfs yesterday and they are sooo cute.
One more question (sorry) the tank has an undergravel filter with a pipe reaching up to halfway up the tank. Where do you attach the airline to the pipe?
Oops and one more, is it true you don't have to cycle the tank? Do you have to cycle for frogs?

is the tube open at the top? i put an airstone at the end of the tube and put the airstone in the tube and push it all the way to the bottom of the tank. if you ar egoing to do 100% waterchanges then you don't have to cycle the tank, but if you want to have smaller water changes in the future, you should do fishless cycling first or transfer some gravel, etc.

you want to keep bloodworm's now......... need a bare tank for them or will loose them in the gravel and eventually turn into flies,...

The tube has a removable top on with sort of slot type gaps in it if that makes sense. The bottom of the tube comes out too but there are no gaps, it fits straight into the connector for the under gravel filter.
