I'm confused on why you would have to break a hundred to get money out of the bank...you can withdraw 12 cents if you want to...I know you said your mom won't let you, I am just confused on that statement.

Willywonka, please don't encourage every person to breed their fish. He just said he is too busy to get a job, that doesn't go well with betta breeding. He also has started a thread looking for free bettas because he feels he can't afford any at the moment. That's not really the ideal situation to begin breeding.

well, might as well go around to your local fish stores and tell them you wil work for free fish. Thats the only way i know and I seriously doubt if they would even do that...If you had not instulted VTs I might have sent you one....but I seriously doubt you would care for it since you think VTs are ugly..I love all of my bettas....

Ok, there are several things disturbing me about this thread. To start off, you occasionally find a CT or DTs, or even a HM in stores, but they're usually bred poorly and are sick, many times doomed to die. Even if you find one, it's still a store, you still have to pay for it.

Secondly, if you have no job, then I'm assuming that the money in your account came from your parents, possibly an allowance, in which case, it's theirs, right? If they don't let you 'spend money on fish' like you said, how in the world are you supporting the betta you had before? I mean, granted, they aren't really all that expensive to keep healthy, but it had to be coming from somewhere.

Thirdly, if saving up for a video game is more important to you than saving up for a more expensive fish, then the fish is obviously not *that* important to you. Many times rarer fish are more delicate, which might end up costing you more in the long run. And, rare fish are more than likely going to be more than $10-if this is all you are willing to spend, then you might as well settle for an 'ugly' VT.

Willywonka, please don't encourage people who aren't experienced to breed bettas. This is scary, and this is why we are so overrun with the torture of these fish.

All in all, if you won't or can't get a job right now, and your mom isn't willing to support a pet, then I wouldn't advise trying to get one. All it will end up with is the slow death of a poor betta.

well there are places to get free bettas. ive seen people typing about it....

and VTs are horrible. very ugly, all diffrent colors, etc. i HATE them. i like the nice tail ones that are solid colors, or not like 7 colors mixed together.

as ive said, many times, no money left, and mom wont let me take money from the bank! and i dont have time for a job, im very busy.

I LOVE VTs!! There's nothing wrong with them!! The only reason theyre considered inferior or whatever is because theres so many of them!!! If they were really hard to get hold of everyone would want one and they'd be going on about how beautiful they are!

And i think VTs are one of the most beautiful tail types!!! Admitedly ive only had a VT and (super)delta and a CT, but I think my VT is the prettiest and he's my favourite!! If you cant afford the, what, $10 it'll cost to buy the fish i really dont think you will be able to afford to look after it properly, so dont get one!!!

You can get a mating pair and a 2.5 gal. of maybe some crowns(8 bucks here) for maybe around ........ 40$ ?? but maybe if you are persuasive you could talk ur mom into letting u breed and earning the money that way !!! (i doubt ur lfs wouldnt take them) and work ur way up. and who knows maybe by the time you had a nice prduction of betta u wouldnt be using much space ..... and u would be able to obtain a job !!!

Once again, here you go suggesting someone breed in a 2.5 gallon. And your idea that someone would make any money breeding bettas as a side project, enough to mean anything, is incorrect. As a non-professional breeder, it is difficult to make even enough money to pay for all the food your fry will go through. And as for not using too much space, I don't know where you think the 20-40g growout tank and the 100+ jars would go in the case of a big spawn.

Perhaps you need to know what your talking about before you continue making these suggestions.

I think he means he'll have to "spoil" it, i.e. he's got a nice round $100 but if he takes off $10 is won't sound as good

like when you have £10 and you don't wanna split it just to spend 50p on bus fare....

I did have alot of money, but i got caught in a trap by my brother to buy stuff for him, and he never payed me back.

actually no, its not. i earened all my money. just with school i dont have a job to get anymore money. and again that makes not scence either, as i have all the stuff because its a replacement!

ya know, this was an inocent question, but some of you turn it into a big deal.

and youd have VT's if you see the ones around here... seven plus colors all mixed together, and they all look like they have black acne near the head, all shreded up.

alos, its only the males VT i dislike. the females are nice, as long as theyre solid. i dont like the mixed muts. and i really dont care if anyone doesnt like that.
oh, and no GP, i didnt want anyone to send me one. i wanted to know if anyone knew like any web sites that gave away cull.

All i was saying is that there is nothing wrong with VTs, they come in hundreds of different colours so im sure you'll find one you like! And if you cant afford a different tail type why not settle for one?

I still think that if you cant afford to buy the fish in the first place you wont be able to keep it. It will need feeding remember, and thats just the start! If it got sick could you afford meds if you cant even afford the fish?

Im just pointing something out, which, if you weren't just starting this thread for attention or to get a free fish you'd accept and hopefully see is true!
