Free 5 Foot Tank

Nip into B&Q at Fort Kinnaird - once you've built a frame you can use black-ash conti-board for the external finishing - no need for staining then.

as a joiner my self i personally wouldnt go for mdf or chipboard it may be the cheaper way of doing things but in personal experience if that stuff gets wet ur in for a bumby ride it can bow and even collapse and under that amount of pressure (gallons) i would say its not worth the risk for the tanks sake the fish's sake and yours theres nothing worse then clearing up broken glass =/
however if you prepare and treat the material properly, none of the above problems occur. juwel tanks may split, but you don't hear of the stands collapsing, often anyway, and they are made from pine and chipboard. as are the stands for clearseal tanks. MDF is nasty stuff to cut, so you should take care and use a mask at least. it all hangs on a solid wood frame, as i said, so collapsing is not really on the cards!
