Highly territorial to conspecifics and not much better with other benthic species. This fish is best kept with quiet species that inhabit other areas of the tank, such as larger characins, peaceful cichlids and the like. A massive tank is needed if you want to keep more than one of these, as they will often fight to the death in confined spaces.

my Gn is very pasive to be honest, my Bn is way, way more aggressive!my Gn just hangs out in her cave and causes no problems with any other tank mate.

how large is your Gn compared to how large it might potentially get? my BN (different i know) got more aggressive as it got older.

On the whole the info is relatively correct, GN's do have a rep for been quite aggressive but more so from my experience with there own kind more than other species. Ive kept a group of them and with a big tank and plenty of hiding places (literally the whole tank)they can co-exist quite well.

On the other hand ive had a couple since in a slightly smaller tank and all they done was squabble. Ive know gn keepers to have had these in a tank for a few years, mixed with other species fine then all of a sudden the gn just went all out crazy and wouldn't tolerate them lol.

really is going to depend on the individual plec to what sort of characteristics it actually does have.

You say yours has 2 inches left to grow?, what species is it?. I wouldn't guarantee that it is only going to stay around 7 inches for any species but some do have a tendency to stay smaller than others.

its a smaller spotted ( tiny ) L081 ....i think they grow to 8 inch's in the wild so im expecting at least 7 inches.

No one can actually guarantee a wild size for virtually all plecs, even the species you have has the potential for 10 -12 inches (including tail) both in a home aquarium or in the wild, given the right tank and perfectly ideal conditions, there is no reason why it wouldn't and couldn't reach as big as the other varieties.

Most sites which state size have been gotten through an average size, im sure there have been reports of 12 inches plus for these plecs just not very well documented.

Even PC states they get to seven inches and that's without the tail, another possible 2-3 inches will need to be added and even that is a average size and not a potential full grown size.
