I guess I need another thread since I found some new eggs yesterday, actually night before. I saw few eggs on the glass near the back side of the tank at late night. And I didn't feel like to collect like 10 eggs. So I decide to collect them in the morning. And they were still there. I collected 15 eggs and about half of them were darker.
I really hope that these are from C.Arcuatus but considering the level of easiness I hear about them, I guess they are much more likely to be the eggs from C.Paleatus. Which I was hoping that they are C.Longipinnis when I bought them but once again they are much more likely to be C.Paleatus than C.Longipinnis.
And I guess they are another tough corys to distinguish.
Anyway, So I got some mystery eggs which half of them look good enough to hatch today or tomorrow when I checked last night. I usually know who's egg they are since I usually keep one group in the tank but this tank have 2 groups. Maybe I need more tanks. In a way, it is kind of fun to not know like the opening the X'mas or birthday present sort of way. Although it is most likely that I got socks or underware(pepper eggs) than the toy I wanted(Arcuatus eggs). Still I have little hope of that I got the new shinny toy. I just have to wait and grow them to find out.
Anyway, I probably go check after few more cups of coffee. Also I better collect the eggs from Panda also before they get eaten.

Hi NEONCORY :)

Lots of luck with them, but I have to agree with you. They are most likely not C. arcuatus (skunk corys). According to PlanetCatfish there haven't been any reported cases of this happening yet. Of course, someone has to be the first to do it, and it might just be you.

I'll be waiting to see how it turns out. :D

Here's a picture for anyone who isn't familar with this cory:

Hi Inchworm,

I don't mean to disagree with you and this is just FYI but I know they have been bred before although they are tougher Cory to breed. Here is the link for it.

http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/arcuatus.html

And would be cool if I was to be the first to bred of anything but the C.Arcuatus can't be the one. It say Ian bred them in 1980!
And I know the odd of that to be from C.Arcuatus than Peppered are slim to none. Since I know I have few big female Arcuatus but I don't think I still not have matured male yet.

And I don't think the breeding report on PlanetCatfish is not always up to date anyway. It seems they do not recognize the spawn until someone write article and submit to them.
The breeding of C.Melanotaenia is not reported either. Although I have many of them also someone wrote article of breeding them somewhere else online. I think it was on aquarticle.

Anyway, I probably get some wigglers from Peppered Cory soon. They haven't hatched yet but they were really dark. So maybe tonight or tomorrow. Still I like to get frys from new fish better than same old fish.

Oh never mind. I just saw their tank and saw one female Peppered holding eggs and another female re-cycling the eggs on the glass.
I guess I have to add more stuff in there like jungle of Java Moss.

Hi NEONCORY :)

Thanks for the link! I know they were hard, but was surprised to see that they have been impossible when I clicked over there to check before posting. I thought I had read of them spawning, but couldn't remember where.

It's been some time since I've been to that website, but I used to enjoy reading the articles. I'll be visiting it again soon.

No problem Inchworm.
(as long as you know you are not right at this time. :shifty: )

And these Pepper Corys! I saw one female holding eggs and the other female eating some on the glass. So I fed extra food to discourage them but I guess it didn't work well. Now I see so many egg skin marks on the glass but not many eggs there.
I think I have to jungle up the tank with Moss and spawning mop tomorrow.
But tonight I just try to collect whatever left. I also need to go collect eggs from Sterbai, luckily they are much less egg eater than the Peppers.
