i probably said it wrong, 4 filter pads I only change one a week in rotation, I change pad 1 on week 1 and pad 2 on week 2 and so forth...not all 4 weekly

No thats what I thought you meant. I'm sure your blue pads can be left in there for more than a month. It seems uneccesary to change them just when the bacteria has got a firm hold on the pad. I change my blue pads every 6 months so that they don't become nitrate hovels
