Just wanted to let you guys know (namely MAM and Joker) that I will for sure be getting a pair or trio (haven't decided yet) of Betta simplex after the holidays. :D I'm very excited. So anyways, what that means for you guys is that there will be fry by spring, if all goes well. I'll certainly sell them here first, and if you guys are still in the market I just wanted to let you know there are some coming. :)

For those that don't know, Betta simplex is a small and gorgeous mouthbrooder, shown below in it's IBC SMP pic.

When you think you have seen all the types of Betta's you learn something new. Any chance you ship half way around the world?

I have 32 bettas and I'm not buying anymore!

Looks like cometcattle will sone have 34 betta's. :p

ral, I'd love to send you some, but I have no idea how to deal with all the importing/exporting laws and fees.

I'm now starting my list for simplex. :hyper: Why all the interest in these, I'm wondering? Or are people interested in my falx and foerschi too? Anyways... MAM, slam, and comet, y'all are written down. :)

Would you be able to bring them (and/or the falx and foerschi) to the Vancouver betta show?

I'll definitely be bringing falx to the show, probably foerschi, and if simplex are ready, those too. :D That's mainly my reason for going - to sell my fry. So if you're going, cc, you can pick up a pair or two there.

Thanks Julie.

Yes sending this far away could be a problem. I can imagine that the temp change alone might be pretty bad (tropics). I started out liking Betta's for their beautiful tails, but have beocme more interested in the short tails lately. Any future additions to my current set would most likely be made up of short tails and you have a really nice one.

Great that you are breeding the less popular ones. Am pretty sure they would not sell to well at a petshop (i.e. are you sure he is a male?), but I can imagine you wont have any problems selling your fish at the convention alone.

I think we all start to like them because of their fins. Later we get attracted to their attitude IMHO. At some point we start wanting a sample of each type.

ral - Are you clear on the fact these are not Betta splendens - the type you see in stores, but in fact a completely different species? They're not like a different tail type. :) I just want to make sure, since a couple other people have been confused. It's like Gouramis for example - you could have a Moonlight Gourami and a Sparkling Gourami - although they are both obviously Gouramis, they look completely different, and act differently too. I apologize if I'm explaining something you already know!

You're probably right that they wouldn't sell in a pet shop, because most people there wouldn't know what they were seeing, and how great and rare they are. :p They'd just think they were less colorful splendens. At the show they should appreciate them though, yey. :)

Sounds great! :D

:*) Actually no. I thought they were just a different tail type :oh:

What can I say... I am newbie :dunno: :D

Im I in the List for all three? :D

I really got intreted in this fish once I saw them on aquabid a few months ago. Then I finally found someone who selles and I ask julie about it she said shes ripping me off. SO im gonna wait till julies spawn!

Yup, Joker, you're on the list. ;) I really hate to see people selling wilds for outrageous prices - really good breeders (who don't need to make a profit) will sell them as cheap as possible, just to promote species awareness and conservation.
