Just because I've become curious in the matter, I was wondering if someone can tell me ...

How unusual is it to do a fishless cycle and have no algae form?

I'm going on just over a month doing my fishless cycle (I did the add more each day method, so ...) with nitrite levels looking to drop within the next couple of days. However, everytime I read topics about people cycling, there's usually mention of algae forming in the tank. So, how odd is it that after a month of correct cycling at 84~86F, for me to not have a single spec of it on the aquarium glass, gravel, or ornament?

There is light, though it may be a bit low (Only 13 watt flaurecent right now), plus whatever sunlight it might see in a day (Varying, but between 1 and 4 hours).
I'd considered this, but I thought some form of algae would still bloom under the conditions.

My last tank I did a cycle on was perfect for the fist month - it was going almost too good to be true. And then around the 6 week mark all H&ll broke loose

Hope that not the case for you though :)

but yes, light etc. will be a factor in algae forming.
