i think i know how solve the heron problem, you need an electonic signal generator, kind of like a pest removal, what you need to do is research herons and find out there audiorty levels, then buy or make a transmiter that will scare them

That's good thinking! I've seen stuff like that for deer that you mount on your car, warns them so you don't hit them while driving. I was contempleting physical barriers, but an auditory one is a super idea!

You could ask someone who works at the Facilities department of an airport for suggestions. They deal with unwanted birds all the time.

Wouldn't that be a really expensive way of solving the problem? I'd think that it would be easier just to make a plastic heron, which you could put up as a scarecrow. Good idea though

nah i dont think so i'm sure you could get one of thoes deer ones like the post above said.....who knows

Yeah, but you'd have to adjust it for the heron (which means taking it apart and puzzling over its insides), wouldn't you?

you never know untill you research bio information, and most of the time transmiters have a dial built on to the bord that is ajustible .... i live in Ma so i dont have a bird problem, in fact i dont even have a koi pond or any pond so....lol  just hought i would shed some light on the topic

Water Transmits sounds 4 times better than air. Even if the fish cannot hear the pulsing, they probably could feel it, and it may annoy them enough so that they start jumping out of the water, accidentally landing on the shore. :/
I don't know if the fish would be bothered intensely enough to stress them out, its just something you might want to be aware of. :)

there is now a sensor that turns a hose on near the pond when the heron lands and scares it away, I think that is the best option as it is relitivly cheap and simple to install.

ste :)
