Hi

So i have spent the last month completing a fishless cycle in my 90L (30"x12"x18") tank, and its currently home to a small shoal of Black Neons to keep feeding the bacteria in the filter.

But now the question is on stocking...originally I thought I would go for a South American theme...then I started looking at Gouramis...and this is the way I've decided to go.

I'm still planning on getting a BN Plec/smaller catfish for the bottom of the tank, but want the Gourami(s) to be the centrepeice. What I'm after is some advice on what species I should consider, and what kind of numbers, as from what I have read, they can be quite agressive in temprament?

So far I really like the look of the banded and thick lipped varieties - with the blue strpied pattern. Would either be suitable? and if so in what numbers? If not, what other varieties would you recommend that are equally as striking in terms of colour, and would make a good centrepiece for the tank?

cheers,

nick

ps any advice on where in london i could pick them up would be appreciated - ive just moved to north london, and so far the one shop ive visited barely had any stock, and most of what it had was being treated for white spot!

ive been to the aquatic design center on great portland street a couple of times and they have a nice amount of fish - its in central london just by oxford circus

edit : im planning on having a couple of honey gourami in my tank but the dwarf gourami look really nice as well. they have some american flagfish which look fun as well - they have similar colours to the dwarf gourami.

Hiya mate
In a 90 litre, Dwarf Gouramis would probs be the best. THey should be kept in a group of 1M and 2 or more F. But you can't have 2 D. Gouramis in the same tank, they'll just attack eachother lol!

While Aquatic Design CEntre is good (overpriced), Wholesale tropicals in Bethnal Green is much cheaper and they have quite a large range of Dwarf Gouramis.
CArl :good:
