Welcome to the salty side and welcome to the forum rob.

Just so you guys know, Rob is running an Aquamedic Chromis 30 gallon cube.

He has the 150w halide lamp on arcadia 4 pendant legs. Think the bulb is 20000k.

Also fitted with a 36 watt actinic t5.

Running 2 Koralia 1's and a fluval 305 external filter.

Approximately 15kg of live rock and a crushed coral sand base.

Think thats right isn't it rob?

What are you running in your external filter?

Yeah thats pretty much what i meant lol...

Im just running tha carbon in the porous bags at present...do you recommend adding anything??

Also what do u reccomend as good sand critters...any particular star fish or something...just to get the sand moving?

sand sifting starfish will do the trick but i would wait for your tank to mature more before you add it.

How many crabs and snails do you have?

Welcome to the salty side Fozone :good:

Lets have some pictures to see your progress so far, we love watching tanks develop

adam i have 3 hermit crabs, 3 snails and a cleaner shrimp in there at the mo

i would be tempted to re jig the rock a bit. make it a bit more exciting and less a pile of rocks.

I've moved my rocks loads of times. everytime i get new coral now i move something to help it all come together.

I will pop round soon and have a butchers. i know that photos rarely do tanks any justice.

To be honest i was pleased with the layout..as it took me ages...ive spent the last hour trying to re-shape it..

Ive made it not so tall, but it still looks like rocks on top of each other,as its cube shaped, its kinda hard to make it look more natural

I think my tank wasnt mature enough for coral yet..as its not opened up much, ive left it in their...all the readings are fine etc..so we'l see

Thats the latest just a re-shape and the clowns Chelsea and K-o are alive and well

think my clowns are called Walker and Texas Ranger ( or TR for short ).

give the polyps a few more days. if they don't open up try moving them higher on the rock work.

The large colony of button polyps i had took about 2 weeks to open.

This was due to them being in a minging bag of water and away from light for a few days before i got hold of them.

Patience my child. Think i might try and upload some pics from the new mobile.

Sorry to ask but why a 20000K bulb?? That is incredibly blue, why not the 14000K? It generally gives better growth and still has a blue tinge

Regards

Yeah my 14K bulb looks incredibly blue without my white LEDs so that must not be bringing out the full colours

its what came with the halide when i got it. I swapped tanks before i had chance to swap it over and i think rob (fozone) is in the same boat.
