Measurements.... What is the most common units used on this forum.... I.e. when we talk tank size, (feet and inches) when we talk capacity.... ( liters or gallons..... which gallons) when we talk distance.... (miles or kilometers..) When we talk temperature (Celsius or Fahrenheit) pumping rates.... (M3/s or l/s) and there are so many more....

Maybe William (Bless him) can give us a conversion table up top (as with tank capacity) So that apart from English, we all can talk the same language.......

Considering that this is a primarily UK based forum, the Metric system reigns supreme here.

We do have a conversion table for Imperial and Metric lengths.

There is a converter, its called the aquarium calculator at the top of the screen :)

Maybe I've used the aquarium calculator incorrectly, cause it only gives me capacities?? (not ft to m or Deg C to Deg F etc. etc.)

I always keep a google window open. Google can convert most units. Just do a search like "260 l to gal" to convert liters to gallons, "76f to c" to convert temperatures, and "15 cm to in" to convert lengths. As a nice bonus, if you have autocomplete turned on, you eventually build up a sort of "library" of conversions you've already done to save typing time.

It has a temp converter on the page about half way down ????

In that case, Sorry William.... You're a Pro!!

Yep, Google magic!! Gotta love it... will convert anything to something else if it can

Ox :good:

On my mac i just click the middle button on the mouse and up pops a calculator, 7 day weather forecast, calender, clock and converter

The middle button on the mouse is nearly broke with all the times i've clicked it to use the converter since i started using this forum, Lol

No it doesn't.

Generally used are inches and US gallons (mainly for simplicity; all but the youngest UK generation are happy working in inches whereas the US are pretty poor at cm, plus it's easier to say '20g' as opposed to '75l' [as in smaller numbers]. And 'rules' such as inch per gallon, watt per gallon etc. are all based on US gallons and whatnot).

Very gooood OOOH Feeeshy.... we're narrowing down. I'm comfy in all measurements... So it's gonna be imperial..... I like it!!

If you work at a LFS, your going to need to be able to use both, just today i've been told pond meausrements in mm, metres, inches, feet and even yards
