Ive been feeding my platys and guppys Tetra flakes, TetraColor, Blood worms, And baby shrimp.
And was wondering if Daphnia, and Brine Shrimp ( freeze dried foods) would be good to include in there diets.

I Know this might seem like a dumb question. But I spent 12.00 on Krill, Which was to big, and to messy to crush * fish couldnt eat it all even when crushed. And I dont want to waste money on foods they cant or wont eat.

Any other freeze dried foods that you can think of that theyd eat would be great too!

There are brine shrimp hatcheries that you can buy just for the purpose of feeding fish. All you have to do it put the eggs in there and you have a food source. Unfortunately they don't stay alive long unless you feed them too. I've always want to create an ecosystem with a sustaining food source, or at least partially sustaining.

My brine shrimp stay alive for about a week.

In a hatchery they have no food scource and will die after 4-5 days
But the best time to feed is directly after hatching, which is about 24 hourse of adding the eggs to the water (at 24F)

Use live or frozen befor freez dried foods.
But the first 4 options should be fine on their own..

Poor fish they will be missing out :(
Fish food is tested to make sure that they get enough from it, so u should be fine as u are, but they love frozen and live food's

from LFS u can just a sealed bag, cut off the top and add to the water, surly nothing wrong there.

I have bought brine shrimp eggs off ebay. only paid £1 for 10g, and that is alot of eggs.
I put them in a 2l coke bottle, then made two small holes in the top for air tubing.
put a piece of tube from pump into the bottom of the bottle and routed another out of the other hole as a vent (just into the air space and leave higher to prevent syphoning)top up with tank water and in about 2 days small brine shrimp for your fish and young. works well.
I have only added less than 5g of eggs and have fed only a little every other day and had enough for two weeks

NHBS is by far the best live food, but I dont think Annaconda will want that sort of hassel if frozen food is to much of a problem...

because anything that cant be ate by me, or my family, isnt going in my freezer!!

And live foods are just some thing I dont want to deal with.

TetraDelica do jellied bloodworms, brine shrimps and daphnia- neat little sachets that don't have to go in the fridge or freezer and as far as I know contains similar sort of nutrition to the frozen stuff- it's certainly enough to make my corys randy anyway.

Also, with livebearers, a little veg from time to time won't come amiss: peas, sprouts, spinach, broccoli whatever you're having.

platies and guppies will eat almost any fish food. live or frozen is a welcomed treat, ive heard freeze-dried can cause problems if fed too often. the foods your feed now are fine for them to live on, but live or frozen food IMO is better. a packet of live brineshrimp can just be poured into the tank, and the fish will swim around "hunting" them and eating them though out the day.

I see your point! Don't want to accidentely put some frozen bloodworms into some chili! "hmm...what is that little taste in there...." lol. I store mine in a garage refridgerator so things don't get mixed up.
