i recently saw a jewel aqaurium for sale second hand and it had what appeared to have a foam decore which would fill the back pane of glass and the bottom of the tank. are thee a good idea or do they absorb hafful nitrate/ammonia? advice would be appreciated thanks summat fisht :D

I've got a foam background for my 42g tank and it has been fine. Once it has matured it will look more natural. It doesn't seem to have affected any of the water stats. Here's a picture of mine

Thanks summat fishy. I'm not sure what size they go up too but I think you can get them relatively big. That piece was just over 1 metre long and about 35-40cm high, it did cost us about £60 though!
